Luis San Vicente

I studied graphic communication design at the UAM Mexico, before graduating I entered the Tané illustration and design office, where I found the magic of children’s illustration, which captivated me from the beginning.
I worked for almost 20 years as coordinator of the art department of the Reforma Newspaper, working as an illustrator and doing art direction work.
You can find my work mainly in the editorial field, designing posters, illustrating children’s books, illustration for magazines, newspapers, book covers, animations and personal projects.
I have more than 40 illustrated books for various publishers, including Santillana (Mexico, Spain), Diego Pun (Spain), Findaway (EU), Ediciones Castillo (Mexico), Loqueleo (Mexico, Spain), Editorial Planeta, Edelvives, etc.
My drawings have appeared in various animations for Televisa, the 68 voices project and the morbid channel.
My work has been recognized on various occasions, twice highlighting first place in the catalog of children’s and youth illustrators (Conaculta, 2006, 2013), twice deserving mention in the Iberoamérica ilustra contest (2014 and 2020) and winner of the “Fundación four cats” for his illustrated album “That morning” (EU 2017).
He won third place in the poster contest “With our ingenuity let’s invite to read” (2007).
I was in charge of the image and conceptualization of the 35th International Children’s and Youth Book Fair (FILIJ) 2015 and the Los Silos International Story Fair on two occasions (2010 and 2020).
MY work has been exhibited in Mexico, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Cuba, France, Chile and Colombia.
For more than 20 years I have found various forms of expression in illustration, I have always been a restless illustrator who tries various techniques, both traditional and digital, it is very difficult for me to maintain a style and technique for more than one project, but always maintaining a own style.
